Trying to solve a mystery from inside this jungle is like looking for a needle in a hay stack. This never ending sea of trees span across three countries, In the north is Mexico, to the south west is Guatemala & to the south east is Belize, and the forest spreads as far out as the Caribbean coast line. Though centuries ago it stretched even further as far south as El Salvador and Honduras This is not just any old jungle, its known as the Forest of The Maya and hides some of the most perplexing mysteries known to man kind. The sheer size of this jungle, with its thick under story of plants and creeping vines makes this place an extremely hostile to the untrained. For archaeologists and geologists it has been a tough challenge to find the ancient sites that an extremely advanced civilization left behind almost a millennia ago. What has already been uncovered is only a fraction of what once were super cities, not just one but thousands of urban centers that supported millions, just like our mega cities today but possibly far more advanced than we could have ever dreamed of. It may seem completely crazy to imagine what was going on here, but new technology is mapping out what lays beneath the thick canopy, and what is being discovered, is something that was thought entirely impossible. The latest in LiDAR technology allows for scientists to map the forest floor without having to disturb or dig up anything. This technology is extremely expensive and has only been used a handful of times, but what it has been able to do is give scientists almost x-ray vision and what they saw was so perplexing, its left scientists scratching their heads in confusion.
